Company History
Outstanding service, integrity, longevity—just three of the many qualities that have created 41 years of success for Jones Food Store Equipment Ltd. The legacy of this family-owned, family-run company began in 1971, when Barrie Jones and his cousin, Harold Jones, were offered a distributorship for Hussmann refrigeration products. The internationally renowned, American-based company was already familiar with the Jones name, as Buzz Jones, Barrie’s father, had previously established a long-standing relationship with Hussmann before he sold his company.
In April 1971 Barrie and Harold bought Domino Refrigeration and acquired the British Columbia and Yukon distributorship for Hussmann. Thanks to many industry contacts, the newly formed Jones Food Store Equipment was immediately and successfully up and running.
Now over 40 years later, the tradition continues with present day owners Darin Jones, Randi Jones, (whose father is Barrie Jones) and Jim Marsen. In some cases, the relationships between the Jones’ and their customers have been going for even longer. There are JFSE customers who purchase from Randi or Darin Jones, and whose parents and grandparents were supplied by Barrie Jones and Buzz Jones respectively. Looking ahead, the future is bright for Jones Food Store Equipment—with a loyal customer base, experienced employees and constant innovation.
